Explaining AI Integration for Leaders

We have been developing Hanna Prodigy AI for almost two years, and soon, it will finally be on the market for all teams and change agents. It will be the first SAI (Strategic AI) in the world. I will tell you more soon about what an SAI is.

In this article, I will cover what I have learned through my personal AI journey and how that has shaped the AI Adoption Model, a framework to better understand AI integration in organizations.

Let’s start with the basics. The AI Adoption Model is part of Enterprise Agility and helps you better understand what to consider when implementing AI in your organization. Each level represents an essential aspect of AI implementation. At the base are the parameters—the building blocks that control the behavior of an AI system. They’re the DNA of your AI, so to speak, and determine its basic characteristics and capabilities.

Just above this foundation are data quality and diversity. In my experience, these factors make or break many AI initiatives. High-quality and diverse data is the lifeblood of any AI system. This is the only way AI can learn, adapt and make accurate predictions. I’ve seen many initiatives or projects fail because they underestimated the importance of clean, representative data. Remember that your AI is only as good as the data it has been trained on.

Moving up the pyramid, we come to the model architecture. It’s the brain of your AI system and determines how it processes information and makes decisions. The choice of architecture can have a significant impact on the performance and capabilities of your AI. We have helped companies dramatically improve the effectiveness of their AI by refining their model architecture.

Almost at the top of our internal pyramid is the Capacity for Generalization. This is what separates truly intelligent systems from pure data processors. An AI with strong generalization capabilities can apply its learning to new, unforeseen situations?—?a critical attribute in our rapidly changing world.

Now let’s look at the external elements of our pyramid. On the left, we have the control and adjustment capabilities. This is the ability to optimize and adapt an AI system as needed. I can’t emphasize enough how important this is. The ability to adapt your AI system to new data or changing circumstances can make the difference between a system that grows with your organization and one that quickly becomes obsolete.

On the right side, we find speed and efficiency. In today’s fast-paced business world, an AI system must deliver results quickly and efficiently, even when dealing with large amounts of data or complex tasks. I’ve seen companies gain significant competitive advantage by prioritizing these aspects in their AI systems but this is only true if outputs can be accurate (low number of hallucinations).

At the base of the pyramid, outside its structure, we have evaluation and feedback. This is the foundation on which continuous improvement is built. Regular evaluation and the incorporation of feedback ensure that your AI system is aligned with your organization’s goals and the needs of your users and you can learn and improve based on external “stimulus.”

Now, let’s move on to the part I think makes this model effective and relevant to today’s AI landscape. First, at the top of our pyramid is data security. In an era where data breaches and privacy concerns are top of mind, ensuring the security and ethical use of data is critical.

Many models like OpenAI assure that they do not use your training and data, but a few months ago, we learned that they were illegally using YouTube for their training without Google’s permission. This can also happen with Bing, so you need to know what’s happening with your data. Many products on the market are from independent providers but use ChatGPT in their backends, so your data and your training may not be safe.

I also suggest considering the ethical aspects of AI when considering the data security layer. As AI systems become more prevalent and powerful, it’s not only a moral imperative but also a business necessity to ensure that they operate ethically, reasonably, and transparently. I’ve seen companies suffer significant reputational damage by neglecting this aspect.

At the end of the day, and from the social aspect (or Social Agility), I suggest considering human-AI collaboration as one of the model's outputs. The most successful AI implementations I’ve seen are those that enhance human capabilities rather than replace them. This element underscores the importance of developing AI systems that harmonize with human capabilities and decision-making processes.

From the market perspective, it is also important that you ensure that your AI is safe from the regulatory and compliance perspective. With AI regulations evolving rapidly in different countries, it’s crucial that your AI systems are compliant with the relevant laws and regulations. This isn’t just about avoiding fines but also about developing AI systems that are responsible and sustainable in the long term.

Finally, a crucial output you should also consider is scalability. As your business grows and evolves, your AI systems need to be scalable accordingly. I know many companies that had to completely overhaul their AI infrastructure because they didn’t consider scalability from the start.

Keep in mind that implementing cutting-edge technology is not just about doing so ethically, scalable, and aligned with business goals and regulatory requirements.

As you consider your own AI journey, I encourage you to use this model as a guide. AI adoption isn’t a one-time event but an ongoing cultural change. It requires continuous learning, adaptation, and a commitment to responsible innovation.
