The experts are WRONG about this
If you love art, you probably appreciate a well-designed living space. After all, interior design is an art form in itself!
And while we’ll leave the floor plans and furniture to the pros, there’s one “expert rule we’re going to have to break…?
You should NOT buy art based on whether it matches your home décor!?
Here’s why buying art based on your interior design is a no-no:
Your design scheme may change
Even if you absolutely adore your decor now, that might not always be the case. You could buy a new sofa, repaint your walls or upgrade your furniture as your tastes evolve. So, if you buy art solely because it matches your current decor, you’ll be in a bind when your art doesn’t match your future design scheme.
Contrast adds a wow factor
If the pieces you choose are a perfect match to your decor, your space may look monotonous. Choosing art that adds a splash of color or a nice contrast can add serious WOW factor to your space and make your interior design look even better.
Buy art based on what you love
Collecting art is about your individual connection to each piece. Our collections should be multi-faceted, just like us. Our advice? Only buy pieces you genuinely love to build a collection that makes you proud.
While artwork can play nicely with your interior styling, your collection shouldn’t be dictated by your design style. Lean into a deeper connection for a more rewarding experience as a collector.
