Traveling home for the holidays is a tradition many Americans, perhaps especially those with children, look forward to all year long. Unfortunately, Covid-19 has proven adept at ruining plans in 2020, with this annual holiday migration home joining a long list of events public health officials now say may be too dangerous to partake in.
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has been clear on their recommendation: “Travel increases the chance of getting and spreading the virus that causes Covid-19. Staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others.” But in a year when so much else has been taken away, it’s not surprising that some families are choosing to ignore that advice.
