From the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Capacity Building on May 25, 2024:

" Supporting resilient growth and reducing poverty and inequality requires strong domestic revenue mobilization. In response to a request from Guinea, the International Monetary Fund and its regional technical assistance center for West Africa (AFRITAC West) have provided sustained technical assistance to improve the reliability of taxpayer registers and therefore increase tax compliance and collection."

" Between 2019 and 2022, and despite the negative impact of Covid-19 on tax compliance in 2020 and part of 2021, the number of active taxpayers in Guinea had increased by 25% for large taxpayers, while medium-sized businesses had doubled in the meantime. The number of taxpayers making regular returns had increased significantly, from 355 to 656 for large businesses (84% increase), and from 222 to 482 for medium-sized businesses (117% increase)."

" VAT return ratios also improved between 2019 and 2022 for large taxpayers (83%) and medium-sized taxpayers (51%). The number of geolocated taxpayers has also increased by 80%.This enhanced revenue mobilization will help the country finance its economic and development objectives."
