Expert council meets to help supercharge Queensland procurement.
Every year, the Miles government invests more than $23 billion in goods and services. We want as many of those dollars to flow through to Queensland businesses.
That's why our Buy Queensland approach is so important.
With the lead up to the 2032 Olympic Games and our clean energy transition, there is over $200 billion in procurement opportunities on the table.
This is a once-in-a generation opportunity for local businesses, so we need to make sure there is strong communication between government and industry.
A council of 14?industry experts, appointed to advise the Queensland Government on strategic issues relating to procurement met today for the first time.
The Procurement Ministerial Advisory Council will provide expert advice on:
A focus of the Council will be advising on driving Queensland’s nation-leading procurement and prioritising Queensland businesses and jobs.
It will also have a major focus on ensuring that regional communities continue to benefit from government’s procurement investment.
Selection for the Council has been targeted at industry experts and innovators with demonstrated skills and expertise in their fields.
The Council’s job will include strengthening procurement governance and engagement between industry and government buyers, as well as advising on leading-edge procurement practices that will prioritise Queensland businesses and jobs.
Council members will not be involved in any operational activities or policy decision-making relating to Queensland Government procurement activities.
All of the members are thought leaders who operate at a high level and will assist in guiding the government in setting out its procurement direction during this time of record investment as we prepare for Brisbane 2032.
