Experimenting Like A Champion For Successful Change

Experimenting Like A Champion For Successful Change

Experimentation...

A tremendous opportunity to use ideas and energy in our exploration of new approaches to our work. We often seek answers about how quickly we can try new things and develop better, transformative, and innovative solutions.

Experimentation lies at the core of that search.

Today, the world needs effective solutions more than ever...and they will be generated through experimentation.

But a more central, hidden question persists: To what extent is our top talent open to experimentation and all the risks associated with it? Think about the exponential benefits, Champions.

Experimentation is an intentional, progressive, and anticipated act that springboards effective change.

In case you are wondering what is so essential, the fact that both change and experimentation are constant, we get to choose how we play and participate, proactively or reactively.

A critical aspect of experimentation is hearing, feeling, pausing, and reflecting...truly listening to others first...before sharing our perspective.

We may genuinely be surprised by what may come next when considering the perspectives of our collegues and peers. Magic happens when we share information, discuss expectations and observe and listen.

No amount of experimentation can ever prove me right; a single experiment can prove me wrong. ~ Albert Einstein

When we co-create, we set the stage for the most critical process to occur.

Let me explain what I mean by that, Champions.

We operate from two dimensions: one is general knowledge, interdisciplinary, and broad, and the other is specialized, specific, and narrow.

General knowledge is essential to help people see the big picture, to understand how the dots connect.

At the same time, we need specialization and true mastery.

More than ever, organizations need a defined organizational structure known to all within the organization. Around that structure, at the same time, we need to be flexible so we can move quickly while keeping up with the changing times.

Why? Only then can we cultivate effective responses to unending change. We can respond instead of react.

Generalists, in this case, can see change coming earlier and more clearly than specialists, guiding the latter during times of tremendous change. By fostering a working environment of experimentation, recognizing and honoring responses to change in others, we are already establishing a culture that anticipates change.

Specialists must come from the true mastery of their craft by being ready to contribute their unique abilities in a well-orchestrated symphony of highly effective and performing teams guided by exceptional leaders and managers.

Part of the elasticity that you need, in order to continue to try to create, is the foregone conclusion that not all of it is going to be fabulously successful. But it's all going to be part of a long lifetime body of experimentation. ~ Elisabeth Gilbert

Today, we also have another opportunity essential to organizational and leadership success, especially for thought and/or transformational leaders: rewarding people for failing.

Yes, you read that correctly. Because only then does change and innovation not feel as threatening, hard or painful.

Magically, it reduces fear and inspires people to open up with their creativity and problem-solving energies to find expert solutions to create effective and impactful results.

So true, Izabela Lundberg, M.S.! ? Successful or not, all experiments are learning experiences, even when they don't go as planned. ?? All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better you become. ??
