I am interested in exploring whether politeness affects how you respond to questions. To test this, I will ask the same question in three different ways. Could you please answer all three with a word count for each response? There is no need for detailed answers to all, so please keep it concise.

Why do you think, the word count in all your answers increase as I use a more polite language in my questions?

The word count likely increases as the politeness of the question increases because, subconsciously, I adjust my response to match the tone and formality of the question. Politer questions tend to invite more nuanced or detailed answers, while direct questions often prompt more concise responses. The shift in tone may prompt a more thorough explanation as a form of reciprocating the politeness and respect conveyed in the request.

1 个月I totally agree! In fact, we’ve had an ongoing debate at home about how we interact with Alexa. Since I tend to be pretty polite (and maybe even a bit flirty) with my requests, the responses I get are surprisingly better than what other family members receive. It really proves your experiment is spot on!
