Experiential Marketing in History

Experiential Marketing in History

You may think that Experiential marketing has only recently gained traction and is still a growing niche in the marketing and advertising industry, but brands have been exploring experiential for over 125 years!

Let's see a few examples.

One of the earliest marketing tactics employed by the soft drink and beverages giant, Coca-Cola was handing out free coupons to generate interest in their drinks.

They only had to TASTE THE FEELING and it would bring them back for more.

The first documented examples of Product Sampling were from during the 1893 Chicago World Fair.

A lot of brands debuted their products by handing out samples of their products expecting that it would drive sales. William Wrigley, Jr. owner of Juicy fruit gum handed out pieces himself.

Oscar Mayer German Weiners launched a mobile marketing campaign in 1936 that featured a "wienermobile" touring the city of Chicago and handing out hotdogs.

So did someone refer to Experiential as the new kid on the block? The only thing that is new is constant improvements in technological approaches for the digital age.

Learnt something new today? Have any questions?
