Experience Studies Pro: A New Approach for a New Normal

The last few years have been a roller coaster. We navigated the most significant global pandemic that most of us will face in our lifetimes. Markets have been choppy with sharp changes in equity markets, unemployment, inflation and interest rates in relatively short periods of time. And consumers are rethinking their approach to risk. Put simply, given the amount of change, the past is no longer a prelude to the future.

As a result of all this change, companies need more recent experience data to use in pricing and reserving products. In response, LIMRA expanded its partnership with the Society of Actuaries (SOA) Research Institute to launch the Experience Studies Pro program in late 2022. The new series of experience studies optimizes LIMRA’s powerful data analytic capabilities and the SOA Research Institute’s historical expertise in studying experience data. The resulting collaboration enables us to increase the scope and frequency of the studies we produce, while providing our members with more relevant data to use in making critical business decisions.?

We’re seeing tremendous demand from carriers, reinsurers and regulators for this work. Companies of all sizes are telling us that the comprehensive data set we provide enables them to supplement their internal data and improve overall credibility. This provides added confidence in analysis across product development, pricing and valuation....
