Experience the individualized interactions with intelligent devices-01
A new world of experience is rising with the convergence of technologies like Internet of Things, 5G, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing and Mixed Reality or AR or VR. Technologies like Blockchain redefining the possibilities of value system and democracy in a connected echo system.
For a creative techie, this must be a very exciting time to come up with mind blowing use cases for business and society. Everyone feels, we are at the door steps of another quantum leap of innovation. Ideas are floating around. However, a lot of challenges are emerging while innovators are working towards to realize their dreams. Few major challenges are the immaturity of support systems, still evolving partner system and missing links in production and delivery cycle. For instance, all the above mentioned technologies have dependencies on semiconductor manufactures, connectivity, data storage and processing and even hardware prototyping of brave new concepts. Tech firms across the world are focused to resolve these and Governments and Industry associations together trying to establish the ecosystem ready.
But very few are focusing on another important aspect - the readiness of end users and the adaptability of society. Though tech giants like Google and Amazon are taking this seriously (I guess Google must learn this after the too early introduction of Google Glass!) many Small and Medium Enterprises are yet to realize the impact of this 'human factor'.
For a while, people were talking about the saturation or even end of UX. I differs and believe they must be talking about the end of present User Interface (UI) methods. For me, I see this as a new dawn for User Experience. With super fast Network connectivity, social media, changing socio - economic conditions - diminishing influence of religion, loosing trust in Politics, challenged value systems etc. - is changing the Human perception. If we read history, the time of social revolutions or innovations drastically changed the individual and society as a whole.
As we can see, in the digitally divided society, the expectations of technology literate society is changing very quickly. They seeing things differently. They see, read and hear more. They're anxious about their privacy and security of data they shared. They see devices like Amazon Alexa or Google Assistant and even their smartphones as a threat to their privacy. On the other side, people really like to use this gadgets a lot. Though speculations are high on autonomous cars, most of us are too excited with the developments too!
We are entering into a new phase of human history where the idea of sensation and perception are changing, so is the human experience. Creating the trust factor and enduring the 'trust element' are becoming a major goal in modern UX. But one fact about trust is making it more challenging - it's very personal and varies from one individual to another. So now it's time to think more about the individual experience we can offer to the end user. In the next post, I'll share my thoughts on it.
