Experience Exchange in the Field of Medical Projects
Software Competence Center Hagenberg
Excellent research in Data Science and Software Science
We were honored to host Prof. Dr. Muhammad Iqbal Choudhary, Director of the International Center for Chemical and Biological Sciences (ICCBS), Karachi, Pakistan. The interaction was engaging, and our guest researchers from Pakistan presented their research work.
Tabarka Rajab 's project on "transfer learning for prostate cancer classification using virtual histopathologist" aimed to develop an AI-based system that could diagnose prostate cancer in patients at an early stage. The research aims to automate the diagnosis process and create an algorithm that can run on any dataset, including those from European and Asian populations. Next, Shahzaib Khan presented his work on "AI-based quality assessment of blastocysts for in vitro fertilization." Finally, Shahzad Rasool introduced an innovative concept for the "development of neuro-navigator using XR to reduce the localization time for neurosurgeons."
Focusing on medical projects, we demonstrated "Pregnant Thanks to AI" and the "INTEGRA Mouse" from IntegraTools formerly LIFEtool Solutions , which assists people with quadriplegia. Markus Manz , CEO of SCCH, emphasized strengthening collaboration between Pakistan and Austria. SCCH already has a fruitful partnership with Pak-Austria Fachhochschule (PAF-IAST), establishing a long-term research collaboration. The fundamental concept behind the partnership with Pakistan is to integrate researchers from Pakistan into Austrian research teams, help them become familiar with the research culture, gather experience with Austrian and European research projects, and build personal contacts and networks.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. Choudhary added, "Through this partnership with SCCH, we look forward to combining our AI and biological sciences strengths. We aim to push the boundaries of scientific research and advance our understanding of the intersection between these emerging fields. Our joint efforts will enable us to explore new avenues of research, including the use of AI in drug discovery, disease diagnosis and treatment, genomics, and personalized medicine. We are confident that our partnership will foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and scientific rigor, and we look forward to working together to achieve our shared goals and vision."
The men behind establishing this bilateral collaboration between Pakistan and Austria are Priv.-Doz.?Dr. Atif Mashkoor – a senior research scientist from the LIT Secure and Correct Systems Lab at Johannes Kepler Universit?t Linz and Priv.-Doz. Dr. Bernhard Moser , Technology and Innovation Manager at SCCH.
