The world of high volume print is a tough business.
Jobs are always coming in and you need to stay on top of it. Not all the data is exactly what you are expecting, so you need to be able to adjust on the fly. And just when you are done making changes to one job, another arrives. That's why I chose the image of Lucy and Ethel in the candy factory to describe your job--it's almost impossible to keep up. The conveyor belt never stops. Your efforts are heroic.
Real world example: one client I talked to about doing a story about his experience had enjoyed the Fourth of July weekend for the first time in 15 years. The end of the quarter June 30 meant his shop was humming to get reports out in a timely fashion, as per SEC regulations. Until he adopted our solution to cut down the time of data conversion he was literally working all day four days into July. He enjoyed fireworks and bbq and sparklers -- and his kids, for the first time in their young lives. The dude is a hero.
And, let's face it, trade shows are also tough. There's a lot of walking --miles, actually--and information overload. You tend to get loaded down with brochures and tchotchkes that you really don't want. You have to listen to sales pitches and watch canned demos that never work in the real world the way they do at the show. A friend of mine is an anthropologist who studies people in working environments. She videotaped hundreds of people at trade shows--hovering just outside numerous booths, afraid to step in, straining to see if there was anything there that was worth their time. They knew that once they crossed that line they were going to have to endure a sales pitch. So they hovered--just outside the border. That's stress. That's hard work.
What you really want at a trade show are new ideas and workable solutions.
So make time at the show for a visit to Compart and experience Compart in comfort.
Compart will be at Graph Expo (Booth 554)--but we won't have work stations and we won't have canned demos of our products. What we are planning is to offer aid and comfort. Comfort in the form of comfortable couches and over-stuffed chairs--you are invited to come relax (we even sprung for electric foot massagers, so wear socks without holes in them). We offer aid by listening to any issues that may be on your mind about the state of your operation. Do you have trouble with the data, with content, with multi-channel delivery, with the QA process, with gathering documents from remote work-stations and offices? Any trouble you might have -- from the stuff that just nags at you and never gets solved to the stuff that keeps you up at night.
No problem is too small or too large. In document output, there is no such thing as "minor." Yours is a difficult task and we want to make sure we are part of the solution. We have a very experienced team--between Bob Smith, John Lynch Dick Riffner and Tim Riordan, my guess is that they have seen it all. That's like 750 years of experience right there. The team has been in the business when it was just ink and paper and print. Yup--they pre-date toner.
And not only do we offer "American ingenuity" in the form of knowledge and so many applications, we also offer "German precision"-- software that gets the job done, that drives so many applications. In a way, we are like BASF and Intel--our software sits within some very well-known and successful products. I am not at liberty to disclose these products or the well-regarded brand names associated with them, but if you come to Booth 554 at Graph Expo, I --well, let's just say sometimes things just slip out. And you will be impressed.
See you there.
In comfort.
