When I was a Girl Scout, I loved to check out how many ways you can use the motto: Be Prepared.? I learned a lot of skills, and all of them were related to the idea that being ready for whatever happens is the best strategy around.? It still is, and I still take that motto to heart.
?
I want to feel prepared for good things, which I consider to be a form of prayer. Emerson famously said that prayer consists not so much of what you pray for, as the way you prepare to receive it.
?
One of my favorite affirmations reflects this, and it works very well. I’ll share it with you. “I am a magnet for delightful surprises.”? I say this often, and it’s so fun to see what happens when I expect a surprise. It can come from anywhere!
?
Sounds like a contradiction, right? How can it be a surprise if you are expecting it?? It is a surprise because you have no idea what it is, but you know it’s going to happen, and it will be great. The ultimate way of living in the present, opening up as the gift that it is.
?
What this is actually doing is opening up the field to express that I acknowledge the power of Infinite Potential that is contained in not knowing what is going to happen. When you don’t know what is going to happen, that means anything can happen!
It could be a fabulous color appearing, an unexpected call from a loved one, a referral from someone that turns into a wonderful relationship with a client that I love working with and who is a joy in my life.
?
?Since I live in a state of being prepared, as much as possible, what else that is wonderful can happen?? It’s a fun question. Expect to be delighted, and you will.
