Expansion on fit note authorisation
The Secretary of State has laid before parliament changes to?The Social Security (Medical Evidence) and Statutory Sick Pay (Medical Evidence) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 2022?in respect of who is eligible to issue and sign fit notes for SSP purposes. The change in legislation is for England, Wales, and Scotland.
Where the original regulation showed the requirement of a doctor’s assessment and signature on the fit note, this has been changed to “healthcare professional” and incorporates other healthcare individuals below:
