Expanding Our Minds ... Then Our Success

Normalizing expansion... That is today's topic and after quite a few weeks taking a mind and energy break from writing, this subject is still as relevant today as it was earlier in the year.
One thing that I've learned working with companies around the world for the past (wow almost 20 years...I'm aging myself now) is that stagnation continues to be the culprit of the team's downfall. Most commonly stagnation in the minds of the teammates and actions of the executives. Let me explain...
Many executives both in the US and around the globe are spending countless hours brainstorming and trying to figure out how to be more competitive, more engaging, and more credible. From hiring consultants, reading articles, and holding various meetings with their team, the theme is always the same... 'how can we be better'? At times in these meetings, I've seen the executives lose it both in their temperament and their patience when what they envisioned in their mind is still not being executed. I mean how hard it is to find the right system coupled with the right people and the best price??? ??
Then we have the visionary leaders who see the skies at the beginning, not the limit. These individuals are eager to jump into what is needed in the market but perhaps lose faith when the execution of the vision is mediocre at best.
As I spent the past few weeks silently elevating myself and my company while also engaging with leaders from the US to Europe, Asia, and Africa one thing I have concluded is this: We must normalize expansion...expansion of our minds, of our talents, of our own expectation of self.

We are no longer and perhaps will never be in the era of closing deals by solely sending email campaigns or LinkedIn-templated messages. We are beyond the phase of throwing money into ads in hopes that the clicks can turn into conversion which turns into long-term customers. We can no longer assume that having a workflow is all it takes to make our operations run smoothly and profitably. And if I dare say.. we are no longer in the period in which hiring and later firing the cheapest resource is the best way to keep costs down.
Rather we are in the phase of internal expansion.. recreating who we are as companies, leaders, and brands. Putting away that outdated business plan and cumbersome business model that worked during Y2K or even pre-COVID but is no longer holding weight in the new dynamics we call business. The new normal is and I believe should be expanding who we want to be to ourselves. What type of company, leader, service, or impact are we truly trying to have? What do we really want our operations to look like and are we being honest enough with ourselves to say 'I just don't know anymore'? Taking a step back and looking at the landscape we painted while in the trenches of needing to make larger profit margins to keep the bills paid (or shots coming?? ). Normalizing expansion means looking inward and then projecting our newly aligned mission to those who come in concert with it: from a skill, financial and vibrational perspective.
So as we conclude another work week, think about what you have normalized in your company. Are you using the same tactics and templates believing if you throw enough bait out there you just might catch something? Or are you being intentional with your self-alignment, articulating a clearer mission to your team, actively sourcing the best talent not just the cheapest, and integrating the right systems not just the most recommended?
I'll leave you with one other thought which has been a mantra I've implemented into my own routine working with organizations globally: 'Let go of the stress and live a little more each day.'
