Expanding horizons: a decade of evolution at Aglatech14
Here is the fourth interview that takes us through the history of Aglatech14. Today we speak with Paola Caminiti , who will tell us about her journey within the company, the expansion into new sectors over the past 10 years and share memorable moments from these years.
Can you tell us about the expansion into new sectors over the past 10 years?
Certainly! When I joined Aglatech14 in May 2016, the company already had a solid foundation in the language industry. My mission was clear: to grow our client portfolio in the patent sector. In the early years, we saw exponential growth in this area.
Over time, we realized that it was necessary to expand our horizons. We began to explore new adjacent markets. The legal sector was one of the first we identified as promising due to the similar nature of the translation work required.
Living and operating in Lombardia, a region with a dense network of small and medium-sized enterprises strongly oriented towards export, we also saw a huge opportunity in the technical sector. These companies needed translations for their foreign markets, especially in the industrial field.
In 2017, to increase our visibility, we launched a new website and created all the necessary communication materials to promote our services. This marked the beginning of a new phase for us. I started actively participating in industry events, such as those organized by ELIA, which proved to be fundamental in better understanding the market and bringing new ideas to the company.

Another important step was the acquisition of Liguria Traduce, also in 2017. This acquisition allowed us to significantly expand our client portfolio in the legal, LSP, and technical sectors, in addition to providing us with a solid network of freelance translators.
We continued to explore new sectors by participating in trade fairs and conducting market research. The medical devices sector and, more broadly, the life sciences became areas of great interest to us, allowing us to continue along a technical-scientific line.
In recent years, we have also opened up to the public sector. Participating in public tenders has allowed us to acquire clients and secure long-term contracts. Additionally, the LSP business remains crucial for us, offering the opportunity to collaborate with large global entities and certify our competence in the Italian market as well.
The goal remains to expand our client portfolio and diversify our services to ensure the company's continuous growth.
Can you share with us a memory from these 10 years at Aglatech14?
I fondly remember the early days when the company consisted of just a few people, all working together in an open space. We shared every aspect of our work, from challenges to victories. There was a sense of community and cohesion, and it was an incredibly formative and energetic period. I also remember the hilarious moments and the amiability of our CEO, Giacomo Grassi. Sometimes, when I talked to Giacomo, I would say to him, "You could be my father," since he was 18 years older than me. He would get offended and jokingly respond, "Look, you're not that young anymore either!" Laughter was always guaranteed with him around!
