Exonerating Stephen Patterson

Exonerating Stephen Patterson

On March 13th 2024, I traveled from San Diego to Los Angeles with the legal team from The Innocence Center to document the exoneration of Stephen Patterson. Stephen is an innocent man who wrongfully spent 17 years behind bars for a murder he did not commit.

In 2005, Stephen was misidentified by a single eyewitness who made a cross-racial identification. Studies show that most people struggle to accurately identify individuals outside of their race unless they know that person very well. According to the Innocence Project, Eyewitness misidentifications are the leading reason for wrongful convictions. Today, law enforcement places much less trust on single-witness identifications.

Tune in below for my mini-documentary ?? about Stephen Patterson's battle for freedom. Thank you to both InfoTrack US and Legal Talk Network for supporting this production.
