Author:?Moses is the author.?This is the general consensus among biblical scholars.?The author has an inside perspective of the covenants and laws.
Theme:?Book of redemption by the power and blood.?Exodus means, "going out."
Survey:?The book of Exodus gives the account of the life of Moses and his hand in delivering the oppressed Israelites out of Egypt.?This is a book of redemption.?There was bondage under Pharoah but God sent His deliverer Moses.?The people are set free through the Passover and the hand of God at the Red Sea from the armies of Pharoah.
They are tested in the wilderness and then given the law at Sinai.?They fail God but He wins out by giving the tabernacle where they can worship Him in truth.?The first part of the book is historical, the second half is legislative.?Israel is now a nation.?Abraham's family has come into its own.?It has been given purpose, direction, and a relationship opportunity with God.
