LOS ANGELES, CA – October 5, 2022 – Candle Media’s Exile Content Studio and Detective have teamed up to produce a new eight-part Spotify Original podcast series, “Pablo Escobar: Escape From La Catedral,” narrated by world-renowned journalists, Daniel Coronell in Spanish, and Univision News Anchor Jorge Ramos in English, and featuring exclusive, never-before-heard and secretly recorded telephone conversations. All eight episodes in both languages are now exclusively available on Spotify.

“Fans of true crime podcasts won’t want to miss this fascinating series,” said Alejandro Uribe, CEO of Exile. “By playing a mysterious set of historic audio tapes, ‘Pablo Escobar: Escape from La Catedral,’ skillfully transports the listener back to the time when Colombia was known as the cocaine capital of the world, thanks to this one ruthless, fearless individual, and the elaborate effort that was made to finally bring him to justice.”

Narrated by Coronell and Ramos, the series details the downfall of notorious Colombian drug lord, Pablo Escobar, whose cocaine empire once placed him on the world’s wealthiest and most wanted lists. Through terror and a network of corruption, Escobar gained almost total control over the police, the army, and much of the Colombian government while operating an international cocaine trafficking network. After a series of savage attacks which involved the downing of an aircraft, bounties for killing police, and the bombing of government offices in broad daylight, the Colombian government was forced to act. Their solution was the negotiated surrender of Escobar in exchange for a series of concessions, allowing the kingpin to choose where he would be imprisoned, a site called "La Catedral" in his native Envigado.?

"Myths devour people. This podcast allows us to meet the person called Pablo Escobar, sadistic and family oriented, brilliant and perverse, at one point one of the most wanted people worldwide," said Diego Rabasa from Detective, who worked as screenwriter and series director. "Together with Exile and Spotify Studios, we are able to offer an exclusive glimpse at this delusional time period in Colombia through a modern lens."?

All eight episodes of “Pablo Escobar: Escape From La Catedral” are now available for listeners to dig deeper into this fascinating story and stay hooked until they reach the extraordinary ending.
