Exercise a healthy selfishness

Exercise a healthy selfishness

It is a human principle to do good for you while doing good to help others. However, we do see when most people are not happy with themselves, who lack self awareness, insecure or just can't get passed the pain of what they may have missed throughout their upbringing or relationships how fast they avoid dealing with their own issues and look to help others with theirs. They do not take care of the ME before the WE.

I believe it is healthy to exercise some form of "selfishness" (ME before the WE) in order to reduce expressing any individual inner pains onto others who may not be the problem or contributors to the mental conditioning.

A great example is a person who did not received the right type of parenting needed to flourish in life. If they did not get the love, support, encouragement or psychological safety they need the individual can becoming harden internally, bitter, have an aggressive tonality to compensate for their insecurities to get the attention needed to feel respected. They may also lash out to loved one, the family pet or complain about life, job, the neighbours, envy what people have or peoples lack of effort.

Most people tend to treat others better than they treat themselves because they need to some kind of fulfillment. This focus can cause them to neglect their own needs and well-being.

Here are some reasons why this happens:

1. Social conditioning

2. Empathy

3. Fear of judgment

4. Self-criticism

5. Culture of self-sacrifice

These factors and others can contribute to people treating others better than they treat themselves. However, it is important to remember that taking care of oneself is crucial for overall well-being and happiness.
