Exercise has been Proven to Help your Sleep

As someone who has suffered from restless sleeps for years, I am grateful for the conversations I have had with many Coaches who specialize in improving overall sleep & night time routines!

Can you relate to this:

Another day wasted because you are so tired?

Our bodies have a sleep drive, your biological need for sleep, similar to your need for food & water.

In a perfect world, falling asleep at night comes naturally. I honestly think my husband is asleep before his head hits his pillow.

The longer you are awake, the stronger your drive is for sleep. For those who struggle with falling or staying asleep, often their days are consumed with the worry of whether they will sleep well at night.

When your body is balanced, you wake up with energy & remain so until the evening as the body becomes sleepier & sleepier.

This is due to a chemical in our brain called adenosine which helps regulate our sleep. We also naturally create melatonin, which helps tell our bodies to feel tired & whined down.

Both of these chemicals are very low in the morning & accumulates during the day.

Meaning the longer you are awake the more adenosine builds up in your brain, the stronger your need for sleep, will be.

To help increase your adenosine levels, we should exercise & get our bodies moving.

The more you work your muscles, the more adenosine is going to be produced.

Studies show that sleep improves with exercise. Our ability to sleep is an indicator of our health & our inability to sleep, CAN be an indicator of trouble brewing in our health.

How would you rate your sleep from 1 - being Excellent-no issues to 5- Horrible-I struggle falling & staying asleep?

I actually sleep better during the day rather than at night.

Not entirely related to the post, but I just want to add that when work from home setups became the norm, a lot of companies have somewhat disregarded work hours since employees are at home. Many have reported getting more tasks being delegated to them because they are expected to be productive. This results to longer working hours and less sleep. Anyway, I agree that exercise does help in improving the quality of sleep and it helps you fall asleep! So many benefits ??Jennifer Smrz ??- Wellness - Resilient - Empowering ??

Yep! I exercise on the daily, and sleep much better because of it. Even it's something low-impact, like a walk - it totally pays off at night when my head hits the pillow.

I would say I am at a 3 ... Fall into a deep sleep FAST... wake up in the middle of the night. I have recently changed my exercise routine and have to say I am starting to notice a difference. THANKS for sharing this Jennifer. ??
