Exercise. Become Harder To Kill

Exercise. Become Harder To Kill

You know that working out lowers the risk of the top killer diseases of Americans, and it does wonders for burning fat, improving cholesterol profile, keeping blood sugar levels in check, and keeping blood pressure desirable.

These are logical reasons to work out on a consistent basis, but for many individuals, these health-related reasons don’t provide enough motivation.?

They just aren't fun?enough for some people.?

So here are some additional reasons to exercise that you might not have thought about:

Makes you harder to kill

There are lots of stories that go along these lines. A 60-something man who was in a car accident that broke his leg.

He tragically ended up dying. That's crazy right??

The shattered bone was too much of a shock on his pre-accident weak body. Many people suffer heart attacks while under extreme, acute emotional stress or while shoveling snow.?

Their bodies simply cannot process the physical (or emotional) insults.

Workouts, particularly intense ones, “train” the body to recover from trauma. A workout actually causes trauma to the body. Over time, consistent workouts teach the body to respond favorably to trauma.

So when a person, who’s been exercising faithfully, one day starts shoveling snow, or breaks a leg or experiences some other shock, the body is better prepared to handle some of this stress and won’t be as likely to respond with cardiac arrest as someone untrained!?

Exercise. Become harder to kill.

May need to turn that into a t shirt.

Keeps the brain young

The research continues to pile up showing that exercise improves memory by enlarging the brain’s hippocampus, lowers risk of dementia and stroke, and enhances cognitive skills.?

Exercise can reverse age-related brain shrinkage and reduce the risk of spontaneous brain bleeding that can occur in the elderly.

Makes it easier to rebound from major surgery and giving birth

A trained body is less likely to suffer complications from surgery, pregnancy or birth, and will recover faster than an out-of-shape body.

Lowers risk of heart attack and stroke by keeping the body’s “fight or flight” response more in check

We live in a world of chronic stress that fires up stress hormones that prepare the body for battle. The battle suppresses these hormones.

In a modern world, the battle is exercise. Those who don’t exercise can experience continuous stress and will usually suffer the effects of chronically elevated stress hormones.

Makes you more capable in everyday life

Think of how great it would be to change a flat tire all by yourself, or help a friend load a truck with heavy furniture or play with the grandkids all afternoon and not be aching, sore, and exhasuted the next day.

Increases caregiving abilities

Anybody who’s ever been a caregiver to an extremely ill person will tell you that getting more than five hours of sleep a night is a luxury, and that caregiving often requires calls to physical action. The abundance of emotional stress compounds things.

A physically fit body from regular workouts can better withstand this kind of physical and mental stress, and is less likely to become drained or sick in response.

Americans are living longer and?longer, this is something we all need to plan and be ready for.

There are many other cool reasons to work out too:

  • Combats insomnia
  • Fights off depression and anxiety
  • Mellows you out
  • Builds self-confidence
  • Improves complexion
  • Lowers odds of having to one day rely upon a scooter, walker or cane
  • Preserves mobility and greatly reduces odds of ever needing joint replacement surgery
  • Helps prevent chronic back pain
  • Can suppress migraine headaches
  • Increases your chances of doing The Worm on the dance floor of your grandchildren’s weddings
