Executive Search Methodology update

I published a LinkedIn article entitled Executive Search Methodology in July 2015 that was OK at the time, however today is outdated requiring an update.

The methodology a company put in place for an executive search in days gone by was typically driven by the internal Talent Acquisition Leader or managed by a third party Executive Search Services team. In either case, the methodology used was rarely consistent from one hire to the next. This is certainly not true of all companies, however too many times when the talent need arises the search begins without much preparation, if any. When asked when the executive hire is needed to start, the typical company response has been ‘yesterday’ and so the search begins with a degree of urgency. Due to this ‘urgency’, steps to prepare for the search are missed and as a result, too many times desired hires are lost or wrong hires are made.

Have you experienced this situation as a hiring authority or candidate?

In other corporate activities, whether solution or product development for instance, preparing all stakeholders to succeed by ensuring all are on the same page and in agreement before any project begins is imperative. No company will invest money and time in something so important to the company’s success without careful planning.

Is hiring the right executive talent important to your company’s success?

Executive search firms whether global or boutique lead with their own process or methodology. There is not one market methodology based on best practices, until now.

Enabled by a data collection technology platform, Alioth Search Services and Technology ensures all stakeholders are questioned, have input and are in agreement regarding position requirements, expectations and hiring process/strategy before the search begins. This methodology requires less time than the traditional ways search leaders have gathered information in the past through one-to-one meetings, phone calls or emails, making it practically impossible for group agreement. The Alioth methodology creates a carefully prepared hiring process, involving all key stakeholders in a brief period of time leading to improved executive hiring results.

The outdated search methodology of days gone by is no longer necessary nor should it be. There is simply too much productivity to be gained through search services enhanced by the proper use of technology and this is precisely why Alioth was founded, to develop a full search service | technology solution to improve executive search results.

Investment $ in executive talent search can be high and therefore require positive results and no matter your company size you must do all you can to hire the right talent for your company at the right time.
