As a relatively recent concept, it has evolved to meet the demands of modern leadership, making it challenging to define precisely. Unlike measurable skills such as numerical proficiency or communication abilities, executive presence is intuitive and observed over time across various situations.

Forbes describes executive presence as the ability to inspire confidence in subordinates, peers, and senior leaders. It is about making others believe in your leadership potential and capabilities.

Importance of Executive Presence:

Having a strong executive presence is crucial for leading large teams, handling high-visibility projects, and participating in significant decision-making processes. It is essential for career advancement and breaking into the leadership team. Companies value and reward executive presence as it fosters a top-down culture of confidence and capability.

The Three Pillars of Executive Presence:

Sylvia Ann Hewlett identifies three pillars of executive presence:
