Executive and non-Executive Updates, July 2023

The new financial year is here, bringing a string of changes to boards and senior leadership teams across the region. In July, AMP, Mercer, NGS Super, and Westpac saw major shakeups among the ranks of executives and boards. Executives embarking on new chapters from July take Morgan Young's best wishes with them.

Meantime, local market conditions continue to soften off the back of higher interest rate hikes from the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) and analysts forecasting less than one percent of economic growth. The talent market is ploughing through a period of right-sizing to correct the over-hiring of the pandemic years, including salary realignment, evolving performance rating frameworks to support cost management, right-sizing, and more.?

A word of advice to candidates: Supply always outstrips demand, and there is an over-supply of talent in the current market.

And another word of advice to hiring managers:?There is a lot of high-performance talent in the market but be aware of over-recruiting and over-paying.
