AT&T Veteran Don Parente Takes VP Role at MetTel’s Federal Practice

Don Parente, a 25-year veteran of?AT&T?(NYSE: T), has been named a vice president at?MetTel‘s federal business where he will be responsible for driving sales to the Department of Defense and through systems integrators.

In his new capacity, Parente will aim to expand MetTel’s business with defense organizations and oversee its collaboration with government-focused integration partners, the digital communications provider said Tuesday.

The Senate has unanimously confirmed the nomination of former Louisiana lawmaker Donald Cravins, Jr. to serve as the?undersecretary for minority business development?for the Department of Commerce’s Minority Business Development Agency.

The creation of the new role was mandated by the Minority Business Development Act of 2021, which expands the authority of the MBDA to advance the growth and competitiveness of the 9.7 million minority-owned business enterprises in the country, the Department of Commerce said Friday.


David Fields Named SES Government Solutions President, CEO

David Fields, former senior vice president and general manager of DRS Global Enterprise Solutions, has assumed a new dual role as president and CEO of the government solutions subsidiary at?SES?following the company’s $450 million acquisition of the former Leonardo DRS business unit.

He brings more than two decades of satellite communications and information technology market experience to his new position, SES said.

In a LinkedIn post, Spirk said his role is focused on U.S. government and international organizations. “I’ve dedicated my career to ensuring the U.S. government has a data strategy that protects against our adversaries and leverages the best technologies to ensure our competitive edge.”
