The Executive Lie (and how to avoid it)

The Executive Lie (and how to avoid it)

Well over 90% of initial calls I take are spent discussing lack of time with the business leader I am sat in front of.

It's the number one reason mentioned to me as to why they're not taking care of themselves.

Can I be honest with you for one moment? (it's because I care)

It's a lie.

I call it the Executive Lie.

It's a rhetoric that gets passed around the business world like the canapes at Christmas parties.

Here's why I know it's a lie:

Experience.

I have worked with well over 650 clients in my career and having limited time hasn't ever stopped a single client of mine in achieving their goals.

You might be thinking "I'll be the exception"...

I've heard it before.

I specialise in working with leaders like you, stuck for time.

But I'll say to you what I say to each and every other leader that's told me the very same lie.

Each time you say the words "I don't have time for this" you are strengthening the story and the power it holds over you.

...Just imagine something for me.

Imagine saying everyday to your team "I don't have the time to grow this company, we'll never progress to X".

There won't be any prizes for guessing what will happen.

You'll stay exactly where you are.

Or worse, go backwards.

I can sympathise:

Your perception of what being fit, healthy and bulletproof is likely guided by a former you (without the responsibilities and masses of time available) or by a role model who you cannot relate to.

So you can't visualise how your lifestyle can even begin to accommodate some exercise.

I'll give you an example of how small the time commitment needs to be in order to improve:

  • My client Daniel, owns and is the CEO of a very successful marketing business.
  • He works 70+ hours weekly and has three children at home.
  • He is (or, was) stressed out of his mind and couldn't see a path for him.
  • He now exercise 5x per week for only 15-20 minutes per session, each morning.
  • Some of those sessions might be a short run, one is even just using a simple skipping rope.
  • The others bring in some strength work to get full coverage.

I'll ask you this...

Can you find 15 minutes free, 3-5 times per week?

If the answer is no then I'd urge you to track how much time you spend browsing LinkedIn, X or even catching up on the Sports News.

Are you still standing by NOT having 15 minutes to spare?

Ok, fair enough.

Now tell me how long you spend in meetings or work interactions having conversations that have no meaning or outcome attached to them?

Most of my clients admit to spending at least 30 minutes per day entertaining polite conversations they don't need to be sat within.

It might sound rude.

But you're a leader...if you're not at your best I'd argue that's going to be more detrimental to the business than 20-30 minutes here and there of chit chat.

What you need:

Is to be shown the way FOR YOU.

Not for your brother in law.

Not for an employee/team member with half of your responsibilities.

But you.

Built from the ground up...

...and built to last.

My mission is simple:

  1. To reduce stress ---> freeing up headspace to allow for clarity of thought, communication and decision making. Whilst allowing you to be present at home.
  2. To create bulletproof health ---> creating a better quality of life and crucially, extended your lifespan into the future.
  3. To raise personal standards ---> raising your own self respect as well as raising the respect shown to you by others. Leading from the front.

Spot on! Time is the one thing we can't create more of, but we can always manage it better. If we can find time for the things that matter, our health should definitely be on that list. A 15-minute workout isn't just about fitness—it's an investment in your overall well-being and productivity. Thanks for the reality check!
