EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: ARE YOUR MISCONCEPTIONS AND JOB MARKET MYTHS EXTENDING YOUR JOB SEARCH TIMES?

EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: ARE YOUR MISCONCEPTIONS AND JOB MARKET MYTHS EXTENDING YOUR JOB SEARCH TIMES?

When your job search takes longer than you'd hoped or expected, you’ll desperately search to understand why.

You will probably question or blame two specific areas – and ask -

1.???? Is there something wrong with me?

2.???? Is there something wrong or different in the job market?

In doing so, please be aware of job market misconceptions, prejudices, and myths.

AND BE VERY CAREFUL WHO YOU LISTEN TO

Talk to others in the same situation and they’ll all willingly share their thoughts and observations on what’s wrong – and you’ll risk accepting that as though they are the words of an expert.

Experience doesn’t make them an expert. If they’ve not been taught how to do it correctly, you will potentially be in great danger of accepting their misconceptions, prejudices, and false information as fact – and you and they would be wrong.

WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG WITH YOU?

You might believe it’s because you are too old, too young; over-qualified, under-qualified; too long in one organisation, or too many jobs/organisations. None of those are correct.

You might even feel it’s the colour of your hair or skin, your gender, religious beliefs, your accent or political beliefs. Many will help you compile an even longer list from their misconceptions.?

And the likely thing is you’ll be wrong on all points.?

If it’s anything, it’s probably because your CV/Resume is poorly presented and allows others to form an incorrect view of your potential value to them, even before you meet them face-to-face.

Before you’ve applied for any job, have you ever worked out why you SHOULD be selected?

If you significantly improve your CV/Resume, you can transform the perceptions and expectations others will have of you.

If now is the time to get things on the right track, we should speak soon. Get in touch now.

WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG OR DIFFERENT IN THE JOB MARKET?

Those ‘expert’ job seekers – people who are also struggling to find a new job - will heavily criticise the job market.

They will report recruiters advising it’s very quiet at the moment, not many organisations are recruiting at your level, organisations are holding back because of ……………

How do I know that? Recruiters nearly always say that!

But remember that Recruiters only handle less than 35% of vacancies filled each year, so they can only report on the narrow cross-section of opportunities they know of. They are still a vital part of your search, but you must not let them be the only part of your search!?

There are always opportunities if only you knew how to uncover them!

So, if you listen to those who only chase the advertised market – where hundreds of applicants chase almost any and every vacancy – you too will be following them into the depths of despair and despondency.

Successful executive job seekers learn how to network correctly. They don’t ask friends, family or others they know to find them a job. They learn to find, see and speak to the right people, asking the right questions, in the right way.?

They uncover opportunities – sometimes long before the organisation has recognised a recruitment need.?

If now is the time to get things on the right track, we should speak soon. Get in touch now.

DON’T TAKE A RISK ON YOUR FUTURE.

Professional advice and guidance can make you stand out and set your job search campaign ahead of your major competition.

Have you ever enlisted expert help - to ensure you are better prepared, better presented and perform better than others??

If you have never taken professional advice on how to job search correctly, how can you expect to do it efficiently and effectively?

It’s your future. Does that matter to you?

If now isn’t the right time – when will be?
