EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: THIS WEEK IS ALWAYS THE MOST CHALLENGING ONE FOR ME!

EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: THIS WEEK IS ALWAYS THE MOST CHALLENGING ONE FOR ME!

The start of the first full working week of the year brings the full gamut of emotions, for me anyway.

I look back over the past year with satisfaction and happiness for those who followed my guidance and secured new jobs or are close to it already.

Sadly, however, I also read the concerns, complaints and frustrations of those I haven’t worked with, who are stumbling through job searching and struggling to get traction.?

These people often find the hurdles and hoops they are asked to jump over or through, feel more like insurmountable barriers.

It’s a frustrating time for me, too, reading about those struggling, those who think they know what to do but don’t, and those who might seek advice but opt to follow the herd.

THESE WEEKLY INSIGHTS WILL HELP BRIDGE THE GAP FOR YOU.?

LET’S FIRST ACCEPT THE REALITIES OF THE JOB MARKET?

1.???? YOUR COMPETITION

There are always more people looking for new jobs than there are vacancies.

Those looking include the unemployed, those about to become unemployed, and those who seek promotion or new challenges. Additionally, some need to escape from where they are.

There might be hundreds of applicants chasing every vacancy – and all might look as qualified, capable, or experienced as you are.

It’s therefore critical to your search that you are presented at your best, with what makes you stand out from the crowd.

If you’re concerned recruiters don’t appreciate your potential value. We ought to speak soon.

2.???? RECRUITERS

They do not work for you. It’s not their role to help you get a new job.?

They work against an agreed specification with their client’s organisations.?

Their income is derived from helping client organisations recruit the best people they need.

An ideal candidate will perfectly fit their client’s specifications, not someone who must be trained or will grow into the role.?

They will look for someone who will immediately get to grips with their brief.

They will therefore be reluctant to suggest a rank outsider?

They will not recommend anyone who will risk their reputation as a credible recruiter.

3.???? ORGANISATIONS

It’s essential to appreciate that nobody will risk their reputation by recruiting an inferior candidate – not even a rank outsider.

In parallel too, very few recruiting managers will recruit someone who could become a threat to their own security or career progression.

At the same time, organisations like to promote from within. They are already known characters, it’s good for morale, it helps build a personal support base, and avoids bumping into someone you didn’t promote.

Remember too, they are recruiting for their needs and within their parameters. They are not obliged to help you get a new job.?

SO WHAT DOES ALL THIS MEAN FOR YOU?

As an executive job seeker, you’ll recognise the intense competition with hundreds of others chasing the same vacancies you are.?

You must ensure you correctly present your potential value to recruiters and employers. If you don’t know how to, – we need to speak soon.?

As each month passes without your £10K-£15K income, you risk your commercial standing, self-worth, self-confidence and self-esteem. ?Your search will become even more desperate and soul-destroying.?

We need to prevent that from happening. We must speak soon.

IT’S YOUR FUTURE – DOES IT MATTER TO YOU?

If now isn’t the right time – how much worse must things get before it is?

If now is the right time, we ought to speak soon.
