EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: IT’S TIME TO BREAK THE SELF-LIMITING BELIEFS CAUSED BY A CYCLE OF REJECTION, DISAPPOINTMENT AND BLACK HOLES.

EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS: IT’S TIME TO BREAK THE SELF-LIMITING BELIEFS CAUSED BY A CYCLE OF REJECTION, DISAPPOINTMENT AND BLACK HOLES.

LinkedIn posts continually report job search disappointments, applications disappearing into black holes and intense feelings of rejection as people struggle to secure a new role.?

Family, friends and ex-colleagues undoubtedly support them, but many share their frustrations after applying for many jobs – some even reporting hundreds of applications, and over many months too!

As time passes without a positive result, self-confidence, self-motivation and self-esteem all suffer and the struggle becomes even harder, more intense, and less likely to deliver the best result.?

Self-limiting beliefs become firmly established and age or gender become perceived barriers.

Being told you’re over-qualified or lacking qualifications; had too many job changes or not enough; or too experienced or not experienced enough, are mostly excuses to justify your rejection, but they all gnaw away at your self-worth and confidence.

IF THAT’S YOU, SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE!

YOU CANNOT CHANGE THE JOB SEARCH WORLD, AS MUCH AS YOU MIGHT LIKE TO.

SO, YOU MUST CHANGE HOW YOU APPROACH IT!?

The way you present yourself will affect how others perceive you.

You must be seen for the value you bring, not only judged on where you’ve been!?

LET’S FIRST UNDERSTAND THE REAL JOB SEARCH ENVIRONMENT

1.???? Recruiters are not in business to help you get a job. Their client companies pay them handsomely to produce a short list of viable candidates, to select one of them – or sometimes, not.

2.???? Recruiters will be overwhelmed by the responses to advertised roles – sometimes, hundreds or thousands of applicants. That volume drives Recruiters to use automated filtering processes (ATS).

3.???? Most vacancies are filled without ever being advertised. Only c.35% of vacancies are filled through advertisements – by recruiters or companies. c.65% of vacancies are filled without being advertised.

4.???? Many advertised roles might never really exist. Recruiters and/or companies might have an ulterior motive. Recruiters might use adverts for self-promotion. Companies might pay lip service to the process before appointing a preferred or internal candidate.

5.???? All applicants are seeking to be short-listed for an interview. The high number of applicants will dramatically reduce the odds of any of them successfully breaking through to be seen.

6.???? Most executives will be poorly presented. Their CV will not convince anyone of the impact and value they will bring to a new organisation. It will leave the reader free to form their own opinion.

7.???? Most executives don’t know how to job search correctly. They still commit most of their job search time to chasing adverts – online, on job boards, or in print. And they don’t know how to network effectively.

8.???? Most executives will under-prepare and under-perform at every interview and might even be prepared to compromise everything important to them, to secure that new job offer.

9.???? MOST EXECUTIVES ARE CONVINCED THAT 6, 7 AND 8 ABOVE DON’T APPLY TO THEM. THEY ARE WRONG!?

THE JOB SEARCH MARKET IS NEITHER A LEVEL PLAYING FIELD NOR A FAIR ONE.

EXECUTIVE JOB SEEKERS MUST THEREFORE CHANGE THEIR APPROACH TO IT!

Continuing to hope someone will give you a chance is demeaning and could lead to settling for less than you’re worth.

Executive Job Seekers must, therefore:

1.???? Ensure they are correctly presented. Don’t risk assuming you are;

2.???? Learn to job search correctly, not like you’ve just left University.

3.???? Learn how to prepare for an interview correctly. You will be judged – critically.

DON’T TAKE A RISK ON YOUR FUTURE.

If you think you’ve got everything right, think again. You probably haven’t.?

Professional advice and guidance can make you stand out and set your job search campaign ahead of your major competition.

Have you ever enlisted expert help - to ensure you are better prepared, better presented and perform better than others?

If you have never taken professional advice on how to job search correctly, how can you expect to do it efficiently and effectively?

It’s your future. Does that matter to you?

If now isn’t the right time – when will be?
