Executive Coaching - Connecting the Dots

Executive coaches, learn about psychology, probing & derivation of desired end goals, but tend to overlook one aspect of neuroscience, which is helping coachees generate neural connections, which stimulates the release of dopamine and other feel good hormones.This helps coachees retain learnings and form new habits through a very powerful natural & biological incentive.

Once coachees are able to change perspectives, with new neural connections being formed, they experience improved self awareness, deeper realizations, gain new insights on their current state of being and desired end states.Once learning is incentivized naturally, the coachee becomes autonomous and breaks free of any dependency for personal or professional problem solving, overcoming mental blocks and developing new productive habits.

As a coach I see my role as helping my coachee, learn new things about themselves by connecting the dots between their past experiences, personal learnings, uncovering hidden areas / blind spots, accepting feedback from others, seeing reality free of their filters and assumptions. When coachees experience this process, the mental stimulation brought about by intelligent probing, guided introspection, active listening and positive psychology, releases dopamine as new connections get formed in the neural network, enhancing the coaching experience and making long lasting changes in the memory.

For changes in habit, perspective and behaviour to be permanently embedded, this process needs to be sustained for atleast 6 months, with regular reinforcement, repeated developmental conversations and application of new habits.
