Excuse me ma'am, do you speak English?

Excuse me ma'am, do you speak English?

The Formula 1 paddock roars with testosterone. So does Wall Street.

Watch Martin Brundle, of ITV famous grid walks, tag Lisa Su "Marty's Random Person, the first of the year" at the #ChinaGP and then stutter through his surprise at the plethora of VIP passes this rockstar of a CEO has around her neck. "We're sponsoring the Ferrari car," she modestly answers when he asks, "What are you doing on the grid?"

Lisa Su is CEO of the #27th largest American company by market cap.? The first 26 are run by men.??As CEO of AMD , Advanced Micro Devices, the $265 billion market cap company, she leads a main sponsor of Scuderia Ferrari.

This is the racetrack version of the ubiquitous story of the female executive being mistaken for the admin in the boardroom.

Watch it here:

Wow.

Pattern matching diminishes advancement probabilities

Why can't society get their head around a woman wielding so much power in a overwhelmingly male environment?

Psychologists call it pattern matching. CNBC's Julia Boorstin aptly describes how this applies to women being shut out in the selection process in her book When Women Lead.?

One can't help but admire Lisa Su's reaction, and wonder if she really just chuckled it off.? But it is also?a stark example of the countless time women are discounted, undermined, or unfairly treated due to this ubiquitous problem.

Advancement obstacles underpin outperformance thesis

The effects of pattern matching underpin the WCEO ETF investment thesis:? women CEOs will outperform because it is just that much harder for them to get to that position.? ?In overcoming extra obstacles, they are by definition above average. Can one invest in this #femalefactor?

?In the case of AMD , the 1 year return as of April 30, 2024 was 77.2% versus the S&P of 22.4% for the same time frame. AMD is a 1.88% holding in WCEO ETF as of May 17th, 2024.

?Investing in companies led by women CEOs may just capture some of that extra gumption 麦肯锡 tells us women executives need to get ahead.

P.S. Love what Susie Wolff is building at the F1 Academy and her Ambassador role at She's Mercedes at Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team
