Meet the Newest Valuator
We’re excited to introduce our newest team member, Sultana Begum, MPH.
Sultana comes to Valuate from the Menges Group where she supported RFPs for Medicaid Managed Care plans.
Sultana earned her Masters in Public Health from The George Washington University -- Milken Institute School of Public Health. Her skills include monitoring and evaluation, quality and process improvement, program management, manuscript and literature-review writing, conducting health needs assessments, and quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
As a Bangladeshi immigrant who grew up in Atlanta, “I was not only aware of the barriers to accessing quality health care in the United States among immigrant populations, but I also saw the direct impact of poverty on the quality of life for people in Bangladesh,” Sultana says.

Sultana’s fluency and advanced proficiency in five languages -- Arabic, Bangla, English, Hindi/Urdu and Spanish -- enable her to communicate, understand, and approach health challenges in a diverse and well-rounded way.
In her previous organization, Sultana supported clients in understanding different state health landscapes for their Medicaid populations, supported in their technical proposal writing, business development, and operations. “I hope to take this knowledge with me in my current role as a Strategic Analyst at Valuate,” she says.

Copay accumulator and maximizer programs help lower out-of-pocket drug costs, but what is their impact on patient health?
Pharmaceutical companies offered $14 billion in copay assistance in 2020 alone, according to one report. Yet financial assistance did not guarantee higher adherence.
“Adherence for specialty drug therapy fell 13% after copay accumulators were introduced for patients with high deductible health plans,” according to Copay Assistance Programs Analysis, a report by Valuate.
“Once patients reached their annual savings cap of copay assistance, some stopped taking their medications,” per the report.
