EXCLUSIVE: IPG agencies corner Air India's media and creative business; marking a huge win for the group
IPG-owned media investments company IPG Mediabrands bagged Air India's mandate after a many months-long pitch last year. The account is handled by IPG Mediabrands' firm Initiative, industry sources told Storyboard18.
The win for the media planning and buying group added another feather to the ad holding company IPG's hat given that Initiative's creative stablemate McCann Worldgroup India won Air India's global creative mandate in 2023.
The media win followed. The Air India account is one of the most prestigious and largest in the country, running into several hundred crores, as the airline brand undergoes a massive transformation.
Congress vows to curb government censorship powers on media: Rahul Gandhi
The Congress party has recently unveiled a comprehensive plan for the media in their election manifesto, aiming to uphold journalistic freedom and combat censorship.
The part of the manifesto that addresses critical issues in the media landscape focusses on the party's agenda to empower journalists, safe guard editorial independence, and nurture an environment conducive to free expression.
“In the last ten years, significant sections of the media have been robbed of, or surrendered, their freedom. Congress will help the media re-discover the freedom that they enjoy under the Constitution,” said the manifesto.
I want over 1000 hotels in India. I don’t want that to take me 20 years: Accor CEO Sébastien Bazin
“I am a huge India fan,” declares Sébastien Bazin, group chairman and CEO of the French multinational hospitality and hotel chain Accor. “I hate to be a spectator of India, I want to be an active participant here,” he adds.
India, he says, contributes only two percent to Accor Group worldwide. “It is way too small when you guys represent 20 percent of the world,” Bazin says, adding that he intends to change it.
This will be done by dialling up strategy around the budget and luxury properties, he says.
“India will be the third largest economy in three years, I want to be the largest player in this space in the next three years," says Bazin.
