Welcome to our latest newsletter edition, where we bring you an exclusive interview with Adam Harris the CEO of Cloudbeds, a pioneering company revolutionizing the hospitality industry in Brazil. Cloudbeds has made a significant impact by providing innovative cloud-based management solutions that empower independent hoteliers to thrive in an increasingly competitive market. In this interview, we explore how Cloudbeds differentiates itself, navigates challenges, adapts to the unique demands of the Brazilian hospitality industry, and envisions future growth.?
1. How does Cloudbeds differentiate itself in the Brazilian market compared to competitors??
Our innovative, Brazilian hotelier is unlike any other – they’re a modern business owner looking to rewrite the rules for great hospitality. With the rise of the connected trip, we’ve redefined what it means to be an all-in-one PMS by providing a tightly integrated, yet completely flexible and scalable platform that also provides 360-value across the entire business.?
We offer the best of both worlds — a breadth of in-platform solutions across Operations, Revenue, Digital Marketing, and Guest Experience to help hoteliers maximize business performance outside of our core platform (PMS, channel manager, booking engine and payments), and a robust Marketplace and open API that allows hoteliers to customize their tech stack with seamless integrations that fit each property’s precise needs.?
Our hoteliers love us for our open architecture and the ability to access their data in simple ways. We don’t put boundaries on our platform because we don’t believe in boundaries for travel. Wherever hoteliers want their business to go, we want to take them there. And we can because Cloudbeds is scalable, extensible, and flexible and can be leveraged for any modern hospitality need in Brazil.?
2. What strategies has Cloudbeds implemented to navigate competition and establish a strong presence in Brazil??
Brazil isn’t just a presence for us, it’s in our DNA. Over ten years ago, Cloudbeds started in Brazil when my co-founder tried to book a small posada and realized how difficult it was to book local accommodation. The modern guest experience wasn’t available to independent hoteliers in Brazil because there simply wasn’t the technology to power it. We’ve since changed that, and Brazil has been instrumental in our global growth.?
We made two decisions early on that helped us establish our roots and grow our business there. First, we provided support and built the product in Brazilian Portuguese.?Second, we made sure to service and support the local market accordingly, such as allowing hoteliers to pay via boleto instead of requiring a credit card for payment. Our passion for the Brazilian market is integral to who we are as a company.
3. Can you discuss specific challenges and opportunities you've encountered while expanding in Brazil??
When we started in Brazil, independent properties didn’t have a high adoption of technology. Through vast amounts of education, we were able to change that. As we all know, the Brazilian economy has been a challenge for everyone, especially during COVID, as the country was an international hotspot. Statistically, inbound travel has not roared back yet compared to other Latin American countries, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel. There is hope, especially when you look at domestic travel on the rise. We’re very excited about the outlook for Brazil and the opportunity that presents for hospitality businesses around the country.?

4. How does Cloudbeds adapt its offerings to cater to the unique demands of the Brazilian hospitality industry??
Our partnerships team has worked diligently with the local market to ensure that the key distribution channels and integrations that the Brazilian market needs are readily available within our channel manager and marketplace. For example, we offer direct connections to CVC and PriceTravel, two major regional OTAs in the market. We also offer payment solutions and government integrations that are specific to Brazilian hotelier needs.?
5. In what ways do you envision Cloudbeds continuing to evolve and grow within the competitive landscape in Brazil?
We’re heavily invested in Brazil, which will always be a market that is very close to our company’s heart. We will continue to meet the needs of this market by expanding our partner ecosystem so that they’re even more localized to the Brazilian market, especially in government compliance, payments and distribution partners.
6.? How do you believe Cloudbeds' exclusive reliance on a cloud-based system gives the company as strategic edge, particularly in terms of scalability, flexibility, and staying technologically current in the dynamic hospitality industry?"
In the modern age, operating in the cloud is now tablestakes, because who wants a server on property? This not only allows us to provide modern technology that is infinitely scalable, but it also allows us to continually innovate, update and expand the platform to meet the changing needs of the market. Being on the cloud also allows the solution to be wherever you are as the hotelier, and on whatever device you are currently working on (including mobile or tablet).? Running a lodging business is a 24/7 affair, but who says you need to always be on property to have an overview of how your business is doing? That simply wouldn’t be possible with server-based legacy systems.?
In conclusion, it is clear that Cloudbeds has emerged as a true game-changer in the Brazilian hospitality industry. Their commitment to innovation, localization, and comprehensive services has positioned them as a leader in the market. With their cloud-based system, hoteliers can effectively manage their operations, enhance guest experiences, and drive revenue growth. Cloudbeds' dedication to empowering hoteliers and their continuous efforts to shape the future of hospitality in Brazil and beyond are commendable. As an observer, it is exciting to witness their journey and anticipate the positive impact they will continue to have on the industry.
