An exciting recognition from the World Economic Forum
When Adam, Abhi and I first started Spring Health, it was with the mission to help individuals and organizations thrive by eliminating every barrier to mental health.
Every day, mental health needs continue to rise. One in four Americans experience a diagnosable mental illness every year, yet 84 percent aren’t getting the care they need. This is because there are many solutions (ex: digital CBT, exercise & mindfulness, therapy and medication) as well as many needs, from mild stressors that require subclinical solutions all the way to severe mental health needs.
But traditional mental health solutions were not built to acknowledge the unique needs of each patient. This lack of personalization in care leads to long periods of testing different providers and treatments to understand what works. Trial-and-error is expensive, time consuming, and frankly just a terrible experience for patients.
At Spring Health, we believe that mental healthcare is not ‘one size fits all.’ What we’ve done is apply the same scientific principles behind precision medicine to mental health care, allowing us to accurately predict the right treatment to the right person at the right time and ultimately accelerate recovery. We call this approach Precision Mental Healthcare — and I’m thrilled to share that Spring Health and our approach were recognized by the World Economic Forum as a 2019 Tech Pioneer.
Each year, the World Economic Forum selects a small handful of companies across the globe for their potential to transform their industries and improve society for years to come. We are humbled to share this recognition — as well as being named one of the first Technology Pioneers dedicated to mental health — alongside other groundbreaking companies.
Technology can, and should, play an important role in fixing mental healthcare. When it comes to something as critical as a person’s mental health, we firmly believe that any technological approach must be clinically validated, thoroughly tested via research, and has stood up to the medical industry’s world-class protocols. The World Economic Forum’s recognition of the science behind our Precision Mental Healthcare approach — 30+ peer-reviewed papers and counting — is an exciting step forward for our field.
Our work is not yet done. There is so much more that we have in store for our partners and the millions of employees that are in need of quality mental healthcare. To date, we have helped improve recovery rates 2X while significantly reducing costs and the time it takes to see a provider. We have also proven that people who do more check-ins with Spring Health have better symptom improvement — nearly 60% average improvement.
As we look to the rest of 2019 and beyond, we will continue to advocate for more data, more clinical validation, and more options to help your employees get the precise care they need.
Thank you for your continued support of Spring Health. We can’t wait to show you what we’re up to next.
