Exciting New YouTube Features!

Exciting New YouTube Features!

Hi!

This month’s newsletter is packed with exciting new updates from YouTube! A lot is happening on the platform, so let’s dive in!

?? LONG UPDATES FOR YOUTUBE SHORTS!

  • YouTube recently announced that starting on October 15, you can upload Shorts up to 3 minutes long. Any videos uploaded on or after this date with a square or vertical aspect ratio up to three minutes in length will be categorized as Shorts on YouTube. These videos can be monetized in the Shorts revenue sharing model from the Shorts Feed. Videos uploaded before October 15, 2024: Any videos uploaded before this date will remain the same, as a long-form video on YouTube. These videos can continue to be monetized in the long-form revenue sharing mode on the Watch Page.
  • YouTube is expanding customization options for Shorts creators by allowing them to edit thumbnail frames after upload, adding text, filters, and emojis to enhance the image. Although custom thumbnail uploads aren't available yet, this feature provides more flexibility in personalizing Shorts presentation.
  • YouTube is integrating Google DeepMind’s AI model, Veo, into YouTube Shorts, enabling creators to produce high-quality backgrounds and six-second clips. Additionally, YouTube has rolled out new features such as Jewels for livestreams, expanded language support for automatic dubbing, and AI tools to help creators brainstorm video ideas and generate thumbnails.

?? AUTO-DUBBING WITH REALISTIC VOICE MATCHING

YouTube is expanding its auto-dubbing feature, enabling creators to generate translated audio tracks with enhanced voice and tone matching, making content more accessible to global audiences. The feature, which will soon support more languages and mimic creators' tone and ambience, is set to roll out to many more creators in the coming months.

?? 'COMMUNITIES' FOR CREATOR INTERACTION

YouTube is launching a new "Communities" feature to allow creators and fans to interact directly on the platform, reducing the need to use external apps like Discord or Reddit. Communities function like a mix of forums and social groups, where users can post and reply to each other, while creators can manage discussions and engage with fans using tools like Community Hub for streamlined moderation and AI-assisted reply suggestions.

?? 'HYPE' TO BOOST SMALLER CHANNELS?

YouTube is introducing a new feature called Hype, designed to promote smaller channels and help viewers discover new creators by allowing users to recommend videos through a hype button, with the most hyped videos showcased on a leaderboard. This initiative aims to foster community engagement and give fans a sense of involvement in supporting their favorite creators, addressing viewer desires for more interactive experiences and discovery of lesser-known content.

???? UPDATE TO THE ‘INSPIRATION’ TAB

YouTube Studio's Inspiration tab is being upgraded to provide curated suggestions that creators can develop into complete projects, allowing them to refine ideas, titles, thumbnails, and outlines to fit their personal style.
