Demonstration Plant Progress of Civil and Fabrication work
We are very pleased with the progress being made inside and outside the Demonstration Plant by our civil contractor Stirloch. 70% of the civil works are in the first construction package issued to Stirloch, a local contractor, which covers the ash handling, leaching, impurity removal, spray roaster, and reduction furnace areas.
Excellent fabrication work on the reduction furnace is being done by the Major Furnace Australia team. The first reduction furnace module is starting to be assembled, and we’re excited to see the remaining modules fabricated, constructed and installed on-site in the coming months.
Stage 3?- 100,000 tpa Plant Project Site Visit
In January 2023, LMG visited Saudi Arabia and Oman, followed shortly after by Malaysia to gather more information on the potential site location for the 100,000 tpa plant.
Earlier this month, the LMG Board made a final decision and chose Sarawak State, Malaysia for the mega-plant location with the PFS–B Study proceeding as planned.

Magnesium Fun Fact!

The National Transportation Safety Board in the US is investigating the potential impact of the heavier weight in collisions. The need for lighter- weight materials, such as Magnesium, to be used in manufacturing and lightweight vehicles is growing. Read more here.
