Exciting Development - New Charity linked to SIRPA!

These are challenging times for all of us but during the past few months we have been developing plans to set up a charity linked to SIRPA. Some of you might have seen our Live Recovery Q&A discussions on Facebook earlier this year with Dan Hindsley, Penny George and Catherine McDonnell. Well, Dan and Penny got together to develop the idea and with the support of Catherine they are now getting ready to submit the requirements to register The Foundation for Mindbody Health (FMH) with the England and Wales Charity Commission. The aim will be to then set it up in Scotland as well.

This is such an exciting time and it will allow us to have a platform to raise awareness of mindbody conditions, gain funding for research and offer financial support for people who would benefit but might be unable to fund their own therapy.

Although it's early days, we thought it would be good to let everyone know our plans and also to see if there are any people who might be interested in helping or being involved in some way down the line. Maybe you;

  • Are interested in being an ambassador to help raise awareness
  • Could help us connect with people of influence in the health field or celebrities who might be interested in becoming an ambassador
  • Have experience and skills to help put together a documentary about the charity and this concept and approach
  • Have experience or connections to help us commission and develop research in this field

We hope to have the charity up and running in the new year so there is time to consider more ideas in the meantime and to set things in place. One of the things Dan and Penny are currenty doing is setting up a database of people interested in any of the above or who would just like to keep in touch with developments. We will also keep people up to date with developments via SIRPA, but if you would like to be involved and follow their progress, then please do let us know.

Many people over the years have told me that they want to 'give' back' and we hope that FMH will provide the opportunity to do this in various forms, including being able to raise money through sports events for example.

We're all very excited by this and looking forward to all that could come from this in the future as we continue to raise awareness of the importance of considering emotions, stress and trauma in the development of chronic pain and other persistent health conditions.
