Exciting Changes at The Medicus Firm

Yesterday, we announced some big and exciting changes. I am proud to personally announce the following promotions:

  • Steve Look, will be promoted to CEO. Steve is a 14-year veteran of our company and has a deep understanding and appreciation for what makes TMF tick. He is going to do an awesome job of leading us into the future.
  • Mary Glover will be promoted to COO. Mary joined the company in 2018, bringing with her immense talent, a wealth of experience and fresh ideas. She has already had a dramatic and positive impact on our operations team in her short tenure.
  • Nathan Miller will be promoted to Executive Vice President. He has been with the company for 11 years and will be running all recruiting operations out of the Dallas office.
  • Those three along with existing EVP’s Jacob Simon, Steve Easley and Jamie Thomas comprise the new Executive Team for TMF. Each brings unique skills and experiences to the new leadership team and the team is well-poised to lead TMF into the future.

As part of this transition, I will be stepping down as president March 31st and from day to day operations on April 30th. I have been fortunate to be a part of The Medicus Firm's hands-on leadership team for the last 18 years and am even more blessed to continue to serve as a member of the board of directors.

I’ve been asked a few questions since the release was made, so I thought a post from me might be helpful.

  1. This has been a collaborative process, initiated by me, that is a long time in the making. We carefully planned and executed this to ensure that we got it right. This is the right time and the right team.
  2. My co-founders, Bob Collins and Steve Marsh will remain with the firm. Bob will serve as an advisor to the new executive team and will continue to focus on leadership development. Steve will continue in his role, leading the physician executive search division.
  3. To our clients, this transition will be seamless. We remain committed to putting you in the hands of the most talented, most capable and best prepared recruiters possible. Your success is our number one priority now and into the future.
  4. To our colleagues (current and future), we remain committed to being the employer of choice in our space. Our award-winning culture is the bedrock of the company. We will continue to honor our core values and to place a high value on individual success and engagement.
  5. To the physicians and APC’s with whom we have the pleasure of working to help you find a position, our commitment is that we provide you with access to the best positions that match your expectations, that we arm you with all the information you need to make the best decision for yourself and that we do it with a smile.

Last, I’ll offer a quick personal note. I will try not to make this sound like goodbye because I’m not dying and because I will still be involved with the company and in the industry, albeit in a diminished role.

I have had the pleasure of working with amazing people over the course of my career. To my industry contacts and to our clients, I’m blessed to consider you all friends. To my TMF colleagues, thank you. The gift of being part of a two-man company that grew, merged with a competitor, grew and was subsequently acquired by a fantastic company has been a dream come true and an amazing journey. I have been lucky enough to work, shoulder to shoulder, with great excellent people and to help build this company from nothing to something.  It is a little-known fact that the first ever company-wide meeting was conducted over chicken; Bob Collins and I met at a Wingstop in Waco Tx (halfway between the home offices) to hand something off because it was cheaper for us to drive than to ship it!  We have come a long way. Thank you for the great memories.

All great companies must pass the test of time; the passing of the baton at some point is inevitable. On April 1st, I will pass the baton formally and with great confidence in the new leadership team under Steve’s leadership.

Congrats Jim and well communicated.? Hope you are doing great!

Conrats JJ !? I remember those old days like it was yesterday. Thank you to you and Bob for your support over the years. Without the two of you, I would not be in my position. I enjoyed the days when when Co-op'd together in that small office space and had our daily 5pm game of Nerf Basketball/Horse.. Although you were never able to beat me, you had a great attitude? :)? My Very Best, Dale
