Exciting Changes at Community Food Club!

What a summer at the Community Food Club!

As summer wraps up, I hope it’s been a time of rest for you. We’ve had a fantastic season with beautiful, locally grown produce, and our amazing volunteers helping serve 270+ households daily.

In July, we were thrilled to receive the Consumers Energy Foundation’s 2024 People’s Award, granting us $250,000! This funding will go towards much-needed facility upgrades, including a third checkout lane, a new produce cooler, expanded office space as well as other needed upgrades. With a 20% growth expected, these improvements will allow us to serve an additional 3,000 people per month and enhance our members' shopping experience.

Volunteer Spotlight: Sandy Crawford

Sandy has donated over 1,000 hours to the food club! At the 1,000 hour mark, we acknowledge our volunteers by giving them a golden apple. Sandy is currently one of our four golden apple recipients. ?

How did you hear about Community Food Club, and what inspired you to volunteer with us?

I have always liked to help others when I can. I can’t remember who told me about the Food Club. ?

How has your experience been volunteering with us so far? What is your favorite part about volunteering at the Food Club?

My experience has been great! I like doing it all, but my favorite part is stocking. ?

What do you wish people knew about Community Food Club? What advice would you give to someone who is considering volunteering with us?

It’s a friendly place with people who love to help. My advice is wear comfortable closed toe shoes. ?

How long have you been volunteering with us?

I believe I have been volunteering for four years. ?

Are there any memorable stories or moments, while volunteering, that you would like to share?

I love it when people say how grateful they are that we are here.
