Excitement for the Year 2023: The year of innovative product releases and updates

As we move further into 2023, the anticipation for new and innovative products continues to grow within the industry. In the engineering world, specifically in the plant design and maintenance sector, there is a range of new and innovative products on the horizon. One such product that has recently been added to Hexagon’s CADWorx? Plant Professional portfolio is Elecdes Design Suite (EDS). This 2D & 3D Electrical & Instrument design package has a data-centric approach that streamlines repetitive tasks and allows users to generate various deliverables, such as loop drawings, single-line diagrams, wiring and termination diagrams, specification sheets, and material take-offs from the database. With an interface with the CADWorx P&ID, EDS can take electrical and instrument lists, allowing users to reuse information efficiently.

The 3D capabilities of EDS are compelling. Once wiring connections have been made in the 2D environment and cable trays have been modeled into the 3D raceway module, the cable schedule, including from-to data, can be loaded into the cable router. With the push of a button, all cables in the trays can be automatically routed based on that information, providing users with an accurate 3D model, exact cable lengths, cable drum reporting, and more.

From an architectural perspective, EDS is similar to the CADWorx Plant & P&ID, with MS-access or MS-SQL serving as a database platform and BricsCAD? as graphic engines. Even if you already have an E&I solution, you can load the cable schedule of any software into the 3D Raceway module.

With the inclusion of products like EDS in our solutions portfolio, 2023 is shaping up to be a great year. As more products and updates continue to be released, the industry will continue to grow and improve, making it an exciting time for everyone involved.
