Excited to share a glimpse into NRI Thailand’s journey of nurturing young talent!
Last year, we launched an internship program aimed at providing students with a firsthand understanding of the consulting world. Our team visited top universities and participated in job fairs, connecting with a diverse pool of talented individuals.
The results have been inspiring: we welcomed several exceptional students from leading universities. Curious about their experience, we asked Peeter C. one of our interns, about his impressions of NRI Thailand and what motivated him to transition into a full-time role. Here is what he shared!

What first attracted you to NRI Thailand?
I was looking for an internship as the requirement to graduate. NRI Thailand has set up a booth at Mahidol University International College (MUIC) Job Fair. The name “Nomura Research Institute” caught my attention because I wondered if they are a Japanese science lab. After talking with the representative at the booth, I learned that it is a consulting firm, and became interested in the company.
What inspired you to apply for our internship program?
Consulting is also one of the industries I am interested in. During my conversation with the booth representative, I found this company quite unique as most of their clients are Japanese. After confirming that I met all the prerequisites, I applied for the internship. Being a paid internship which allows work from home is a plus too.
How would you describe your experience with NRI Thailand, both in terms of work and the people?
I was pleasantly surprised that NRI Thailand has quite a relaxed atmosphere compared to the preconception I had that they might be strict like many Japanese companies.
During my internship, I had the opportunities to work on various tasks depending on the projects my instructor had at the time and also through the tasks I got from interacting with other seniors. I participated in the team meeting, interacted with the clients, and prepared materials for presentation. These experiences provided me with good learning opportunities for me as an intern.
The team was very friendly and easy to talk to. My instructor guided me closely and ensured I can adjust well to the company environment. Additionally, during my time as an intern, I also had a chance to join company dinners, which added to the overall positive experience.
What is the most valuable lesson you have learned during your internship time at NRI Thailand?
I had the opportunity to develop essential workplace skills including business communication and presentation, which are useful for any professional setting. I also gained an understanding of basic consulting skills, particularly how to use frameworks to help deliver key messages. This experience marked my first real-world job beyond university, providing practical insights into professional life.
What motivates you to transition from an intern to a full-time staff member with us?
After experiencing the internship, I realized that I enjoyed the workplace atmosphere. My instructor and other seniors are kind, supportive, and patient toward me when learning the job. It inspired me to pursue consulting, knowing it is a challenging field that I want to start preparing for early. Also, the work-from-home policy is an added benefit, as it helped me manage the distance between my home and the office.
