EXCITED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER !!

EXCITED FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER !!

Last month I celebrated my 59th birthday. It was my first birthday in the past 35 years that I did not hold the title of Head Strength & Conditioning Coach at Wichita State University. This past May I decided it was time to resign and focus on the next chapter of my career. I had numerous former athletes contact me to see what my future plans entailed and I gave them all the same answer - I don't really know. When I left Wichita State I knew that I was making the right decision. After 35 years of fighting the same fights, and losing the same battles it mentally and physically had worn me down. Over the past month I've had numerous friends and colleagues contact me regarding my future plans. I decided that it was time to focus on the two sports that I've had the most success with - baseball and basketball. I've enjoyed working with these two sports since I started in this profession, and I'm confident that I can help an athlete or a team reach their goals. Below I've listed jobs in both sports that truly interest me. If anyone has any other ideas or suggestions please feel free to contact me anytime !! Take Care and God Bless, Kerry

BASKETBALL

Men’s Basketball Strength and Conditioning Coach (Power 5 Conference) ----------------I’d like to work with a program that has the resources and commitment to play for a National Championship.

NBA Head Strength & Conditioning Coach -------------------------------------------------------The past 35 years of training college and professional basketball players has helped me develop a plan and a system that I’m confident would benefit any NBA team.

Personal Strength & Conditioning Coach --------------------------------------------------------I’d like to be the personal strength and conditioning coach for an NBA player. This could be training a player that needs to get bigger and stronger, or one that needs to drop weight and get in better condition, or help a player recover from an injury and stay healthy. I could accomplish this by traveling to a player’s off-season home during the off-season and train them on a daily basis or by traveling a couple times a month during the season to help them stay consistent. There are so many options that can help a player, but it depends on each players needs and wants. ?

Strength Coach for a National or Olympic Basketball Team ----------------------------------I’ve always wanted to train a team that competes at the National or Olympic level. I’ve had numerous friends train teams from various countries and I believe that this would be such an incredible experience and honor.

Consultant for players and/or teams that need guidance and direction ---------------------I’d love to travel around the world and help players understand how to improve physically and athletically, and give them the tools to help them reach their goals. After the initial meeting I’d like to continue helping them by doing remote coaching sessions (Zoom, WhatsApp, or FaceTime) or by scheduling follow-up trips. I’d enjoy doing this with various groups such as Basketball without Boarders, NBA Global Academy, or working with any of the top high school or prep academies across the country.

BASEBALL

MLB Head Strength & Conditioning Coach ----------------------------------------------------The success that I’ve had training Major League baseball players over the past 35 years would be hard to match. My success has been centered on two key areas – performance enhancement and the ability to keep players healthy.

Personal Strength & Conditioning Coach ---------------------------------------------------------This is an area that has numerous options. I could train one major league player by traveling to their off-season home and workout with them on a daily basis, or I could meet a small group (approximately 6-8 players) in a central location and train them as a group or train each one for roughly an hour a day. Another option would be to travel to a client’s off-season home and train them in person for one week and then train them remotely (Zoom, WhatsApp, or FaceTime) for the next three weeks.

Strength Coach for a National or Olympic Baseball Team ------------------------------------I’ve always wanted to train a team that competes at the highest level - this could be working with an Olympic baseball team or one that competes at the World Baseball Classic. I’ve had numerous friends train teams from various countries and I believe that this would be such an incredible experience and honor.?
