Excellence Awards 2023: Sustainability Marathon 5th May- 27th May 2023

As you all are aware that sustainability has become the topmost priority for Europe, one of the most important export markets for Indian garments. The European Commission's climate change strategy is focused to make Europe a net-zero emitter of greenhouse gases and become climate neutral by 2050.

In this context, EU green deal has put its importers under huge commitment to source products from countries/suppliers which are high on environment sustainability. ‘Sustainable products’ policy is also projected to be introduced which will focus on reducing the wastage of materials ensuring that the products will be reused and recycling processes will be reinforced, particularly focused on “textiles. European Green Deal takes effect in 2026, with reporting starting in 2023 and hence it is high time for India to gear up and thus?“Sustainability is no more a Choice for India”.?

Appreciating this shift and focus of our global buyers, AEPC takes its AISA (Apparel Industry Sustainability Action) initiative to the next step inviting you to participate in its Sustainability Marathon from 5th May to 26th/27th May 2023 in collaboration with Brands and Sourcing Leaders Association (BSL).?

The Marathon intends to have a series of Road Shows across 5 prominent garment clusters of Tirupur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Jaipur and Delhi-NCR.

?The objective of these road shows is to map the existing sustainability status across clusters, give an opportunity to AEPC members to showcase their sustainability measures to iconic reputed brands, document best stories PAN India to showcase them to the Global buyers and brands and have a policy dialogue with the Government for suitable policy interventions for supporting MSMEs for better preparedness in the changing scenario.?
