Excel File Protection

As followup to my previous article, there are many forms of protection to the workbook/Excel File, like mark document as final, open as read only, encrypt with password ,restrict access & add a digital signature etc,

Restrict access will allow certain people which you choose who can edit/modify the contents, its pretty similar to protect sheet which i discussed in previous article

Digital signature, its like regular signature (which we used to do by hand) but encrypted, to ensure that the file sent was not modified by some third party or hackers, that is ensure authenticity

The ones that I use frequently is mark the document as final & then encrypt with password

Mark the document as final is a feature that lets your users know that the document is final & it will notify them before they can make any editing

To mark your document as final, just go to files, then info then protect workbook & you will see mark as final, then press it & excel will ask you to save your file again

If you are very worried about the contents of the file, you can protect the workbook with a password (you cant view it without a password), to do that go to file->info->protect workbook-> encrypt with password, enter your password twice & thats it, now each time you open this file, you need to enter password to view its contents
