Solving social issues through Artificial Intelligence for future generations
Hello, I'm Takuma Oue, Director of ExaWizards. I did research on data science and AI in the field of cities and architecture at the university. I joined BCG after graduating. I worked on numerous projects relating to growth strategy, corporate transformation, and launching a new business for infrastructure, manufacturers, and trading companies, and then I joined Exawizards.
I work on the overall business management of ExaWizards. For example, my main mission is to formulate and execute long-term business plans and strengthen organizational capabilities to achieve goals. I have introduced AI services to many companies, and? I published "Next-Generation AI Strategy 2025" from Nikkei BP.
Realizing the great mission of “solving social issues using AI”
ExaWizards is a startup that develops services to solve a variety of social issues with the mission of "realizing a happy society through solving social issues using AI".
We are working to solve various issues relating to a super-aging society such as healthcare, shortage of human resources in companies, work style and innovation creation, robotics and manufacturing, finance, and smart cities. Many different social issues do not limit us to a specific area, but help create an environment where members can work independently on the issues they want to solve.
Solving social issues requires us to involve various stakeholders in multiple industries and provide services that combine multimodal data. We tackle the challenging issues that no one has tackled before with talented members from all over the world.
In addition, Japan is expected to face the social issues of a super-aging society firsthand. The issues are expected to be global in the near future, so our mission includes expanding the results of R&D in Japan, a country with advanced issues, on a global scale. Currently, we have offices in Hyderabad, India, and Silicon Valley, USA. We are also implementing several global DX/AI projects on a project basis.
What makes us work on solving social issues?
What makes us work on the big mission of solving social issues? I would like to share with you a message from Mr. Haruta, our chairman, which I often look back to when I want to go back to my roots.
When we were small, we were taught to do what we had to do on our own, such as cleaning up after ourselves, studying, and doing other daily things. Does this teaching still apply? Yes. What makes the difference is whether we think we have to do these things or not.
It is difficult to solve problems; the harder the problems are, the more difficult it is to solve them. We also face problems that we cannot solve for various reasons due to our lack of experience, capacity, or wisdom. But, is it not cool to tackle difficult problems head-on? Some say it is good for strong people but audacious for weak people. But, someone standing up to a strong opponent is simply cool.
Exawizards exists to solve difficult social issues with new technology (AI).
Some people may think the work of Exawizards is audacious. But, all champions make efforts to reach the top. Not everyone can be a champion, but we can become champions as a company and as a group of cool wizards.
In my opinion, we need to have ownership of the issues and their solutions. People often say that a sense of ownership is important, but it is important to sublimate this sense of ownership to a higher level, ownership. Even as a word, "owner" and "party" have different responsibilities and perspectives. Each of our business and service departments is working as an "owner" to solve social issues beyond the parties involved.
I would like to explain the optimal business structure for solving such social issues.
Shortly after the two startups merged to form Exawizards, Haruta told me about the business model that is now called the "Guru Diagram" in the company. It is an illustration of the Exawizards business model, similar to the diagram that Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is said to have drawn on a paper napkin.
The model showed platform-based support for companies to utilize AI while identifying issues common to other companies and turning them into services to solve social issues. We are developing the former business as the "AI platform business" and the latter business as the "AI product business". This is our business structure for solving social issues.
AI Platform Business
We conduct more than 300 AI/DX projects a year based on our AI platform "exaBase'' to help our customers solve their business issues. The projects are one-stop services for promoting understanding of AI, planning, design, development, operation, and usage. The platform allows you to combine a wide range of AI/DX assets such as SaaS AI applications, AI algorithms and APIs, and MLOps for various aspects of needs from quick AI implementation to joint service development.
In addition, we provide one-stop support services for DX human resources and organizational development and support DX promotion through the operation of Japan's largest community of AI/DX promotion leaders.

AI Product Business
We provide AI services and products to solve general industry and social issues using AI. The services are based on the knowledge and AI models obtained from our AI platform, especially focusing on the field of nursing care and medical care. We have a variety of products from software to hardware, such as the "CareWiz series".
The growth of those two businesses produces universal services and finally solves social issues.
Company-wide organizational structure and the role of the Business Management Division
From here, I would like to talk about the company-wide organization. The company is organized into four general departments: the Business Management Department, the Technology Management Department, the Corporate Management Department, and the Human Resources Management Department. We also have the President's Office and the Internal Audit Office as organizations directly under the president in a horizontal manner throughout the company.
The role of the Business Management Department is to promote and execute operations related to business growth for solving social issues. The Business Management Department has two major organizational structures: the AI platform business (exaBase Business Department) and the AI product business (CareWiz Planning Department, etc.). The Business Management Department is responsible for business planning, close discussions with management, and execution of operations (product planning and development, business development, etc.) to achieve the business plan.

Business Promotion Office
We execute sales planning tasks using CRM, as well as operational tasks such as contract and billing work necessary for the execution of each business.
President Office
We plan and execute all measures to improve the corporate value of ExaWizards from a long-term perspective, develop new business models from a medium- to long-term perspective, create synergies between businesses, and plan and execute discontinuous growth strategies.
Expectations for new members
We define the concept of a "Full Stack BizDev" as someone who understands technology correctly and can implement it in society. We believe that a "full-stack BizDev" needs to have the following five skills and mindsets, and we would like to see them in the BizDev team at Exa Wizards.
