An Example of a Great Cover Letter

An Example of a Great Cover Letter

Dear Sir or Madam, I have been working as a writer since November 2020. I have gained experience in several writing niches, including News Writing, Protech, Entertainment Writing, UX Writing, Art and Culture Writing and several other niches. I also have experience using Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) when creating articles for online publications. Furthermore, with the nature of writing, I have fantastic research skills and the ability to be a generalist when it comes to gaining new information and writing as an expert. I have also worked as a copywriter; this is predominantly sales by print which is the ability to create content that can generate revenue online. My predominant philosophy regarding content creation and marketing strategies has predominantly been the philosophy of Seth Godin and Inbound Marketing Strategies.

My professional experience as a writer goes back to November 2020 to the present day regarding professional writing for online magazines and my experience as a copywriter/sales writer and social media writer. Websites I have written for are the Authors Publishing Magazine, 087 Recovery Diaries, History on the Net, history is Now, and The Sybarite Magazine. About my experiences as a writer, I have used the associated press style, AP referencing, and inverted pyramid, as well as other experiences using Search Engine Optimisation and images when creating written work, as well as understanding the target audience and necessary writing styles of different publications and clients. My current writing work is a combination of writing about luxury goods, arts and culture as well as the political in regards to understanding the viability of cryptocurrency. I read journals on JSTOR and subscribed to 3 different newsletters to stay current. These are Morning Brew, Market Briefs and the Peter Zeihan newsletters. These have information on current events, the stock markets business, and international and geopolitical news. I also read books, listen to podcasts, and check that I am not listening to nonsense like Tim Pool.

I got my degree at the University of Hull, a bachelor’s qualification in Politics and International Relations. During the degree, I looked at the political economy and the development of nations from different corners of the globe, naturally East Asia, where I focused on the development of China from the end of the Qing dynasty in 1912 until the present day. As well as looking at the region's development since the end of the Second World War, particularly the declining birth rate in places like China and Japan due to cultural, political and geopolitical reasons. I would say the benefit of this education is that I continue learning about new topics and maintaining my curiosity about not just my corner of the world but places and that they have their own electives and security concerns. Once you can see the world through other people’s eyes, you can understand why nation-building in places like Afghanistan doesn’t work because the culture has not gone through the same developmental path as my native country of Great Britain/England. The other educational achievements were my marketing and copywriting qualifications in 2021 and the UX design Boot Camp I took part in in 2022 because of Digital Marketing, User Experience Design and writing, which seemed to link together in different writing opportunities.

The hobby which I take part in is going to the GYM. I like to keep physically and mentally fit and visit my local GYM 3 to 4 times a week. Another hobby is that I am a self-published author. I’m trying to become a published author. I’ve written two books in my spare time. My other hobby is my blog which also doubles as a catalogue for some of my past writings. I try to make sure I write a piece once a week which is 52 articles ranging from 500 to 2000 words. My blog is called Renaissance Humanism because of my interest in history, understanding humanity and personal and professional development interests. I also write on Medium, where I post some content, and I’m thinking about whether or not it would be viable to start writing on Sub Stack. I try to stay away from screens on weekends or at least Monday or one through the week, which I sometimes use to go outside, go to the GYM or read a book to detox from screen use.
