This Is Exactly Why I Love My Job

My work affection; my learning obsession.

I've been on a friendship frenzy with 'channel partners' throughout LinkedIn. Connecting with at least 10 individuals in the channel daily. And this morning I was utterly dumbfounded by the response I got from Linda Rosenhauch over at TeleDynamics.

To be honest, I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT ANY OF HER JARGON MEANS!!

Sip trunking? Sip endpoints? No clue. Sounds like tapping a maple tree and licking the sap off the tap tip. But this is the sort of response that revs my engine!

Come on Sherlock, think! What do we know?

  • Linda works with channel partners in the Northeast
  • is involved with 'tele-hosting-endpoints' (a term I just coined)
  • and asked me for a phone number as well as asking if I will be at the channel partners in Vegas.
  • Also, Linda immediately and specifically identifies her business and has a CTA for my number in order to 'better understand' whether to dis/qualify me. Awesome job Linda!

So. I will not be at the "channel partners in Vegas". I went to their site, and watched the Why You Should Come video. It's quite crappy. There is no information about the event besides it is from April 10-13 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino and will have networking (duh), an expo hall (duh), some food and drinks (DUH), and more run-of-the-mill expo expectations. Wait, will there be lanyards also? Needless to say, you need to up your video game! To be clear, the only party I am wagging my finger at is Channel Partner's Expo Multimedia Team.

Next. Hey Google, "What is sip telephone"

So SIP is synonymous with VoIP? Got it.

There is a VoIP phone at my desk. I'm getting a very clear picture and have actual hands-on experience with her product type.

Hosting though? I'll presume Linda means IP-PBX b/c of my research...but will ask for clarification in my response.

I also want to believe Linda wrote this original response after seeing my invite but I doubt it. Her response is pithy and direct. Upon further examination, mine is quite dry. But hey! I had no idea about Linda's channel capacities so I fired off a very generic connection request which was just the right thing to get a response.

I sometimes forget that my capacity 'in the channel' (which deserves its own encyclopedia) is social media marketing, content distribution, some social selling, some yadda yadda, a bit of video work, and pepper in some social strategy for taste.

There are so many industries I am foreign to, as I connect with more channelers, I begin to:

  • piecemeal frays across channel industries and weave relationship with brand marketers & channel partners
  • formulate ideas of how to develop more mutualistic relationships that lead to channel marketing automation
  • and postulate value propositions with channel influencers.

Ergo, I'm getting smarter with every connection I make and am cultivating my personal career.

I better understand the telecommunications industry and how they sell, through distributors and partners.

So can Linda's partners benefit by using SproutLoud's local marketing automation platform? Maybe. Can we save money by switching to TeleDynamics SIP endpoints and reviewing our PBX hosting plan? Maybe.
