Exactly What Does a Daily Money Manager (D.M.M.) Do?

A Native Idahoan who Believes that Life is too Short to Not Love It!
I asked my cousin this exact question on a recent trip to San Diego, a place I have always wanted to visit and finally did early last Fall. We had planned the trip for close to a year, and although it was a short one, it was definitely a great one. She has been a D.M.M. for close to seven years, I believe, and she thoroughly enjoys what she does.
I had been looking for something I could do to become self-employed again, and I wanted an opportunity that would allow me to work from home that I can grow at my own pace. I thought I was going to complete my career as a Certified Massage Therapist, but after 10 years it became obvious that wasn't going to be the case. I started researching several options last summer and had compiled a list of ideas to explore. Most of the options I was interested in called for at least nine months to two years of further education, and since I had recently graduated from Boise State University with a degree in Multi-Disciplinary studies, I really didn't want to take on that kind of a commitment. I wanted to find something that would challenge and engage me while serving others, as service is an important aspect of my life.
On one of those gloriously beautiful San Diego days, where the air is just about the same temperature as one's own body, I started asking her what all of the requirements were. A bachelor's degree (I had that covered), a background check (that is not unusual at all anymore), and the interest and willingness to join the American Association of Daily Money Managers. She offered to mentor me as well, and so I decided to take the challenge on.
I created my website just three weeks ago, and I received an email at the end of the second week. I was pleasantly surprised, and contacted the person. This individual simply needed a bit of help on separating some expenses so it became a project, not a long term client. It was the perfect introductory project to get my feet wet.
I didn't realize when I signed up that I would be the only person at this point in time associated with the A.A.D.M.M. in the Treasure Valley, and I love to open a new territory, especially when it is my hometown!

So what does a Daily Money Manager do?
We provide personal financial services to individuals and families, such as parents of busy Baby Boomers who may live in a different part of the Country and take care of their parent's finances. We manage daily money matters such as bills, budgets and record keeping, and we can help you organize your tax documents. We can also help with making deposits, negotiating with creditors, and even help our clients organize their own office space.
Some D.M.M.'s act as Trustees, P.O.A.'s, Conservators, or Guardians. We aren't C.P.A.'s or Financial Planners, however, we are happy to work in conjunction with yours! Many D.M.M.'s work with small business owners as well. There are a number of ways that a D.M.M. can help you with your finances.
